Physical Education
Our physical education curriculum aims to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. By offering an element of student choice within the programme, we hope students will take ownership of and commit to, the sports we offer.
We strive to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports students health and fitness. We provide opportunities to compete in sport and other activities to build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
We arrange numerous sporting fixtures with other schools, competing in local, county and national competitions. In the recent past we have had district, county, national and even Olympic championships achieved by our students and former students. Accredited courses delivered by the faculty include GCSE, A level and BTEC level 3.
The PE curriculum aims to develop each students’ physical, social, personal and intellectual skills. We want students to have a range of physical skills to cope with various types of sports. We want students to be able to work with others both competitively and cooperatively. We want students to be creative, resilient and determined and we want students to be able to adapt to a range of physical activities and to be able to plan and adapt strategies to solve problems.
Please view the curriculum intent section for an overview of the curriculum for each year group.
