Mr Paul Cotter - Former Headteacher

It is with deepest sadness that we share the news that former Headteacher, Mr Paul Cotter, passed away on Sunday 21 March 2021. Mr Cotter was Headteacher from 1985 until 2002, when he retired.

Mr Cotter was highly regarded across Gloucestershire and led Tewkesbury School through a significant period of change. He was excellent at listening and made it his role to get to know all types of staff and students alike as individuals. He was a sound businessman, well known for his shrewd approach and determination to improve the school’s facilities. He was in his element obtaining support from private industry and overcoming bureaucratic barriers. He genuinely cared about the prosperity of the Tewkesbury community and providing the best opportunities for students to develop and succeed.

His lasting legacy was the provision of several site redevelopments resulting in modern teaching areas and conditions, as well as a school with growing academic confidence and success.

He was greatly admired and respected both as a Headteacher and as a person and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

UPDATE: His family have asked us to share details of his funeral service which is taking place on Wednesday 7 April 2021.
