Vacancy: Are you interested in being a Partnership Governor?

School Governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children's education.
Tewkesbury School: Partnership Governor
Tewkesbury School is a successful, inclusive academy offering a broad and balanced curriculum to the youth of Tewkesbury and its surrounding areas. It is one of the largest secondary schools in Gloucestershire with over 1300 students aged between 11-18 attending the school.

The School has a Partnership Governor vacancy and a recent skills audit of the existing 17 Governors has identified a shortfall in operational and board experience.

To improve its expertise and overall Governing support to staff and pupils, the School is particularly interested in applications from senior managers from local businesses with operational and board experience. However the School is flexible in its recruitment policy and interested persons with a passion for education and who work well in a team, should not be deterred from applying.
Governors are unpaid and there is an expectation that each Governor joins at least one of the sub committees (6 evening meetings per year), attends the Full Governing Body meetings (3 evening meetings per year) and becomes a link Governor supporting a faculty. Link Governors usually spend two mornings a year in the classroom and meeting faculty staff.

If you are interested in making a difference to the education of young people and would like to join our dynamic, committed Governing Body, we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you would like to discuss the role informally with myself and/or Gary Watson, Headteacher, then I would be happy to arrange a time to suit you. Please click HERE to view information for prospective Governors from the Gloucestershire County Council website.

Please note that for the protection of children all Governor appointments are subject to a DBS and identity check.

To arrange a discussion, to apply or for any further advice, please contact: Julia Whybrow, Clerk to the Governing Body at:

I hope you will consider putting yourself forward.
With regards

Steve Hawkins
Chair of Governors
