Gary Watson, Headteacher says, "after over 30 years of teaching in Gloucestershire schools, the opportunity for me to shape the lives of our young people and our local communities continues to be as rewarding as ever.  It is through partnerships with parents, commitment from a talented and professional group of staff and support from highly able governors that Tewkesbury School continues to develop at pace.

Children develop at different rates, have differing hopes and ambitions and many take time to find their chosen career path.   At Tewkesbury School, young people are exposed to a wealth of opportunities both within and beyond the classroom in a school that places strong emphasis on the development of well-rounded individuals of whom the school and parents can feel justifiably proud.

From the minute they arrive in Year 7, our students are expected to achieve.  Our pathway structure, introduced in September 2013, has paid dividends with all students, regardless of ability, making improved progress.  Our primary transition programme begins in Year 5 when most of our students visit us for the first time.  Thereafter, there are a range of contact points in Year 6 before youngsters start with us.   Those events and many others can be seen in the ‘Gallery’ area of this website.  Our Freshers’ Fayre exposes Year 7 to new avenues for them to consider.  Alongside the more mainstream school clubs and sporting pursuits, they have the chance to become involved in rowing, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, cheeleading and chess.

Regardless of their ability, students are set challenging and ambitious targets for their academic progress. Large numbers of students choose to continue their education in our Sixth Form moving on to undergraduate courses at university, apprenticeships or employment.

To the visitor, the warm, friendly and positive relationships between staff and students and within the student body itself are immediately apparent and an obvious characteristic of a happy school where young people learn in an environment where creative and engaging lessons are the norm.

Creative arts are well catered for with performances both locally and nationally.  Acclaimed performances of Alice, Oliver, Bugsy Malone and Grease have in recent years graced the stage at The Roses.

Sport, too, is a thriving and exceptionally strong part of the school.  Facilities are excellent and include newly installed tennis courts, a recently refurbished swimming pool and a flood-lit all-weather pitch with changing area, in addition to the usual facilities one might expect.

We are proud of the results of our joint endeavours and share that pride with our students their parents and the broader community".
