Tewkesbury School Key Dates

March 2020 - Current Year 6 children at our partner primary schools have already attended the Year 5 Exploration Week.

September 2020 - Virtual open week for prospective families.  We welcome any further questions you may have after watching our virtual presentation. Please use the link here to submit any questions and one of the staff will contact you.

Deadline 31 October 2020 - Parents apply online to Gloucestershire County Council with Tewkesbury School as preference

1 March 2021 - Parents receive allocated place from Gloucestershire County Council

February 2021 - Year 5 taster visits for current Y5

by midnight on 8 March 2021 - Closing date for parents to confirm place with Gloucestershire County Council.  GCC update Tewkesbury School

April 2021 - Introduction to Tewkesbury School letter sent to parents regarding the forthcoming meeting dates and key events

23 April 2021- 6.00 pm - Parents’ Information Evening – Preparing for Transition. In Sports Hall. Uniform on display, Head’s presentation.

Summer Term 2021

All of the below activities are currently provisional and subject to Covid-19 restrictions.

Tewkesbury School transition staff visit/contact primaries to collect information on your child from Year 6 teacher/s.

Welcome presentations given to Year 6 children at their primary schools and welcome pack issued (June/July).

You will be informed of your child’s House/Tutor Group placement via a separate letter/email in July.

Saturday 26 June 2021 - New Year 7 parent-student learning morning at Tewkesbury School. There will be an online booking form open in April 2021

Monday 5 July 2021 - Compulsory transition taster day for new Year 7 children to attend

Thursday 2 September 2021 - Tewkesbury School - Day 1 – Year 7 only

October 2021 - Year 7 Tutor/Parent contact week

Other useful information

Welcome brochure: A welcome brochure (either printed or electronic) will be issued to Y6 families in the summer term.  A Moving up to Tewkesbury School student handbook will also be issued to your child and they will need to keep this to use in September 2021.  Please read and keep the student handbook somewhere safe to bring to school on the first day of term.

Tewkesbury School's uniform grant for new Year 7 students - September 2021

Grants in support of purchasing new school uniform for students transferring in September 2021 can be applied for via Tewkesbury School. The grant is a one off payment, for the amount of £50.00. 

Please ensure that you provide the relevant supporting information for your application. 

The grants are only available to Parents/Guardians who receive either Income Support, Income Related Employment & Support Allowance, Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Support Under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999, Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) that does not exceed £16,190, or the Guaranteed element of State Pension.

Uniform, specifically our blazer with the pre-embroidered school badge, girls skirts and trousers with the school logo, v neck jumpers with logo, the clip-on school tie with house colour and the Tewkesbury School PE kit can be purchased from schooltogs Cheltenham, Monkhouse Schoolwear in Gloucester and online from SchoolTrends. PE kit can be purchased from Martin Berrill Sports in Gloucester.

Buying school uniform:

Our uniform partners are SchoolTogs in Cheltenham and Monkouse Schoolwear in Gloucester.  We also operate our nearly new uniform shop, which sells branded uniform items and PE kit in good condition at very reasonale price.  You can view items online hereYou may reserve items for payment (via ParentPay, user account details have been issued) and collect at later date.  

Free School Meals

You will also be eligible for Free School Meals if you are entitled to the benefits listed above. If you are not already in receipt but are entitled please do apply. The application guidlelines can be viewed on the Gloucestershire County Council website here.  There is no need to reapply if you already receive meals as this will transfer over.
