Transition to Y7: Sept 2020

Once again we will be welcoming around 220 new students in September.  We are now working on alternative ways of helping our new starters with the transition to Tewkesbury School ahead of the new term. This will be both in terms of how we can help students get a feel for the school, the staff and the way we do things, and what parents can do at home to get children ready for transition.  We will be in touch again with further information, please read our weekly update emails and follow us on Facebook for other reminders.

We have created a set of welcome films from some of the departments and each of the Heads of House that you can watch on our YouTube channel

Other information can be viewed on the attachments below.

Your child’s House/Tutor Group placement has been allocated and sent via letter in July.

Tewkesbury School Key Dates

NEW induction days - Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September 2020 8.30-3.25pm

Year 7 will be the only students in school for both induction days.  Children wear Tewkesbury School uniform and will meet with staff and Sixth Form helpers on the Central Tennis Courts. During the two days, children will experience a revised welcome programme including meeting their tutor, a mixture of lessons and activities with different teachers for each lesson, moving aroung the school on the bell, etc. They will be issued with catering lanyards and timetables.

On Thursday 3 September normal lessons will start from break.  We will remind parents/students about all of these details again, nearer the time!

A minority of you and your children may be more anxious about the re-scheduling of our induction days than others. Perhaps you don’t live in the immediate area or perhaps you and your child have never visited the school previously.  Alternatively, you may be concerned because your child has additional needs and wondering what extra provision will be put in place to accommodate them.  If you do have specific concerns, then please do not hesitate to ask.  Please address any general transition concerns to Mrs Woodward and those relating to additional needs to Mr Collins.
