Progression to Year 7: Sept 2017

Specialist Subject Sessions:

All Year 6 children are invited to join our fun specialist subject sessions throughout the year.  There are up to 24 places per session and bookings can be made by emailing office@tewkesburyschool.org or by phoning the school office on 01684 292152.  Sessions take place on the dates shown below between 4 and 5pm and there is a small charge of £3 per session (payable on the night) to cover costs. 

Parents must collect their children in person at the end of the session and leave contact details in case of emergency.

Updates and reminders will be emailed and will appear on the website and on Twitter.

Participation in the DT catwalk show and the English public speaking competition will be organised through Year 6 teachers.

Online is the preferred method for Gloucestershire County Council but if you are unable to apply this way please download and print a paper application form available on the GCC website  and return it to them by the closing date of 31 October 2016.

  • From 5 September to 31 October 2016 online secondary school transfer and middle to high school application facility open.
  • Monday  31 October 2016 - Closing date for all applications
  • Wednesday 1 March 2017 - Allocation day
  • Friday 10 March 2017 - Closing date to return reply form accepting the school/academy place allocated or requesting to go on waiting list
  • After Wednesday  29 March 2017 - Letters sent out advising outcome of waiting list request
  • Wednesday  12 April 2017 - Closing date for return of reply forms
  • May - July 2017 - Appeals

Important. Please note the following:

  • If you live in Gloucestershire and require an Out of County school you will still need to apply to Gloucestershire School Admissions..
  • If you live in another County you will need to apply to your own Authority requesting a Gloucestershire school. Please note that we will not consider your request or offer a school place unless we receive an application from your own Authority.                                                                                                                                   


Tewkesbury School Key Dates

Wednesday 26th April 6.00pm - Welcome meeting for new Y7 parents in the Sports Hall.  A presentation from Mr Watson and Ms de Glanville. Unform suppliers SchoolTogs and Trutex will be there displaying uniform and price lists. 

Saturday 1st July 8.50am-1.00pm - New Year 7 student-parent learning day - Sports Hall. School Trends uniform on sale. 

Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th July - New Year 7 induction days.  These days are a compulsory part of the transition process. Students will experience two full days at Tewkesbury School.

Tuesday 5th September, 8.35am - First day of term for Year 7 only.


Other useful information

Tewkesbury School's uniform grant for new Year 7 students

Grants in support of purchasing new school uniform for students transferring in September 2017 can be applied for via Tewkesbury School. The grant is a one off payment, for the amount of £80.00.  You can only apply for this during the Summer Term 2017. An application form will be supplied in the 'Welcome Pack' or can be obtained from the school's finance office. Please ensure that you provide the relevant supporting information.

The grants are only available to Parents/Guardians who receive either Income Support, Income Related Employment & Support Allowance, Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Support Under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999, Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) that does not exceed £16,190, or the Guaranteed element of State Pension.

Uniform, specifically our blazer with the pre-embroidered school badge, girls skirts and trousers with the school logo, v neck jumpers with logo, the clip-on school tie with house colour and the Tewkesbury School PE kit can be purchased from schooltogs Cheltenham, Trutex in Gloucester and online from SchoolTrends. PE kit can be purchased from Martin Berrill Sports in Gloucester.

Free School Meals

You will also be eligible for Free School Meals if you are entitled to the benefits listed above. If you are not already in receipt but are entitled please do apply.
